Yes there is a calculation.  Let's say he has 205/55/14 tires.  205 is the 
width of the tire.  55 is the aspect ratio, which is 55% of 205.  14 is 14 
inches.  If you want to see the speedometer readings of different tire 
sizes, go to www.se-r.net  There are not unlimited sizes in tires.  There 
probably is no such thing as a 14 inch tire with an aspect ratio of 50 with 
a width of 205.
