Is this true, does honing the stock manifold Yes you are correct, the main reason why a header works is because of the tuning effect, not just reducing backpressure. A well designed tubular header will make more power than an extrude honed or ported exhaust manifold unless the stock manifold was a very exceptional design in the first place which is pretty rare.
