I have doing some reading on the Sequoia mailing list
and it looks like total order for JGroups is very slow
and people recommend using Appia instead.
Should I plan to use Appia instead?
Yes, I would strongly recommend to use Appia.
Are the docs on how to set it up?
Yes, you will find information on the Appia web site or in the new
Sequoia 3.0 documentation (out today).
