You have to be kidding me.   I would say 95% of e-commerce
software written
today is in Java and with J2EE it is only going to increase.
Java's use in
application development goes far beyond e-commerce and web
applications.  I
don't think C# stands a chance.   The last time I heard of
someone refer to
Java as a toy for the web was someone talking about Applets
in 1996 and
didn't have a clue about the language.   Seems like I heard
someone say ASP
was going to replace Java when ASP first came out and I'm
still laughing
about that one.  Java is going to be around for a long time.

Just my opinion.

P.S.  My IDE of choice for Linux is Visual SlickEdit.

I have been using it for about 1 year and like it very much.
I use to use
JBuilder.
