Good articles, and a nice counterbalance to the propaganda
on Micro$oft's site. I have found no compelling evidence to
use C# instead of Java applets and servlets. True, it's
compiled code, but the JVMs today are much better than they
were and I doubt there is any appreciable difference between
server-side C# and JSP.
And while I share your experience of seeing similar
discussions on various listservs over the years, I do not
believe it trivial if, as you point out, the thread does not
go one ad nauseum.

This kind of debate has been on almost every mailing list I
have been
subscribed. And it can be on forever if we don't be
careful.
IMHO, I can only tell you what I feel like but I cannot
predict the future.
However, here is an link that I think pretty good if you
want to know
something about C# but too busy or too lazy to learn it.

You have to be kidding me. I would say 95% of e-commerce
software written
today is in Java and with J2EE it is only going to increase.
Java's use in
application development goes far beyond e-commerce and web
applications. I
don't think C# stands a chance. The last time I heard of
someone refer to
Java as a toy for the web was someone talking about Applets
in 1996 and
didn't have a clue about the language. Seems like I heard
someone say ASP
was going to replace Java when ASP first came out and I'm
still laughing
about that one. Java is going to be around for a long time.
Just my opinion.
P.S. My IDE of choice for Linux is Visual SlickEdit.

Try http://www.sun.com/forte/ffj/ for forte
I have been using it for about 1 year and like it very much.
I use to use
JBuilder.
As for your other question.... No comment. It's not worth
the trouble.
