The Java Programmer certification is still very much worth getting. Only less than
10% of the content is API-specific ( being AWT, and IO, basically ). The rest is all
about the language itself, correct constructs for inheritance, and so forth. Anyone
who has it has a very solid grounding in Java, although not server-side Java in
particular. This doesn't automatically mean that they're good at analyzing and
breaking downa problem domain ... but if they can, then they will have no worries
expressing their solution in the Java Language.

Just my $0.01 ( exchange rate is very bad at the moment ).

I found that it helped my programming.

regards,
David.
