Thanks to those who have responded personally and on this site. But so
far things aren't looking to good for ISDN and STN.

OK, I'm back to this problem of getting an Eicon Diva ISDN modem working
with STN. (Great success with cable, so would like to turn more people
on to STN but need to resolve ISDN as an option for someone).

I noticed via a reply to my first question that someone else had the
same problem (see my previous [ShareTheNet] External 33.6K modem works
but not ISDN ) of connecting but getting kicked off. That person never
got the problem resolved.

I began looking into the Linux Router project (www.linuxrouter.org) and
now have a few more questions and hopes that someone who has more Linux
experience than I (and that won't be hard as I am a lay person when it
comes to Linux) can put some of this together with their knowledge of
STN and maybe get this to work:

1) It appears that Linux is capable of driving a "Spellcaster" ISDN
modem and Red Hat offers configuration advice for Eicon Diva Internal
ISDN modems. But mine is an "EXTERNAL" ISDN modem which one would hope
works similar to a regular modem with AT command responses. As I had
mentioned, my external ISDN dialed out and connected to the ISP and then
quickly disconnected. So, dial out and connect appears to resolved.

Now here's the good stuff, I found this thread (can this info be used
with STN to resolve the ISDN problems?):

Dear friends,I have made my ISDN work:)Thanks to everyone who help
me:)Thanks!
That is my way to dial up with ISDN:
/etc/ppp/options:
asyncmap 0
crtscts
lock
modem
name <username>

/etc/ppp/pap-secrets:
<username> * <password>

/etc/chatscripts/provider:
ABORT BUSY
ABORT "NO CARRIER"
ABORT VOICE
ABORT "NO DIALTONE"
"" ATDphonenumber
CONNECT "\d\c"

pppd command line:
pppd /dev/ttyS1 57600 connect 'chat -f /etc/chatscripts/provider'
defaultroute

with LRP 2.9.4
Thanks again:)

A new question is:how to dial up with ISDN to use 2 B-channels?(MLPPP)

=========== e-mail thread ends here ==========

Well, does this make sense to any of you Linux/STN folks?

Can we use this here?

He references LRP 2.9.4, what LRP version is STN, and if earlier can we
use 2.9.4?

Do I need to forget this for now and by an Intel ISDN Router (tell me
it's not so)?

Finally, is anyone using STN with and ISDN router, and if so, which
brand?

Thanks in advance for all who can help.
