I've had STN working for nearly two months now, on an internal 33.6KB
modem. I recently bought an external 56K modem, with which I am
unable to connect to my ISP. I know, I know, the easy thing to do is
get cable or ADSL, but neither is available in my area. Anyway,
everything appears to go fine during the boot process, and the
connect process seems to start out okay in that it appears to
actually get the CONNECT signal from the modem, but then I get as
far as a message that says, "Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/cua0", then
"LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests, Connection terminated."
I've got the external modem plugged in to what would be the COM1 on a
DOS machine, and the internal modem is on COM4, and the modem appears
to function relatively normally when I plug it into a regular wintel
box right next to it. The modem is a Modem Blaster Flash 56 II.
Any ideas?
