So says you. :) Who knows what someone wants to do? Maybe someone wanted to make a shareware $49 C# 3.0 compiler months ago. GPL says they cant, unless they ship source, which removes the $49, which removes the incentive. Sure mono will eventually do it as they are now... but maybe someone could have done it earlier and made some money in the mean time. Its just an example - there are many possibilities. > The libraries are where the bulk of the work is, and they are X11, > leave our copyrights in the source code, otherwise do what you want. Generally - even when it is BSD or X11, companies DO put back. Sure some dont, but most do. > I don't think the licenese is that important, because of the nature of > SharpOS (experimental OS), I doubt anyone will use, modify, buy, or > steal our code. > If we spent as much time on code as we spent on the mailing list the > last few days, we would be done by now! I think it IS important. But if your point was that its not so important to be a restrictive license - I agree. > Mono has two mailing list, one open to anyone, and one only open to > those who have contributed at least a single line of code or > documentation. Indy has those too, and when this gets bigger its probably the best route. > I am for a little less talk, and a lot more action. Until the board forms - what else do we have to do but discuss what it will vote on? :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
