Pulling a putter shaft from a Ping putter head without a hosel can be and often is, a bitch. Ping made several models that were hosel-less. The "Blade," and the "Z-Blade" are but two of them. The shaft fits directly into the head. I sent a Z-Blade back to Ping for reshaft a few years ago. The repair shop
guy called - I think an Australian or New Zealander - to tell me they could get the old shaft stub out but didn't want to bang a new bearing into a head that had already had a bearing smashed into it. Remember, there's enough force applied to the bearing to cramp the shaft tip wall firmly against the head. That's plenty of force.

I've gotten some shafts out with no problem, others came with mucho problemas. Some can be simply pulled, as described, some can't.

many shoptalk messages about drilling a hole in the ball bearing from the sole of the putter but I have never once had a problem when using a good shaft puller, the bearing comes right out with the shaft

Some guys have all the luck! Drilling and punching the ball bearing is a last resort. A good Scout is always prepared for Plan B or C.
