Bernie, I am considering a plug, but I was also considering a full insertion and just using a more flexible raw shaft. The reason I was considering a full insertion is that Steve Almo (owner of Bang Golf) made the comment on the FGI forum that the Flow Alignment system of the Bang-O-Matic heads was designed for full shaft insertion, and it was his opinion that you would get a reduced benefit with partial shaft insertion. I don't know if there is any data to support this, but that was his position. I initially shafted the club with a SK Fiber TT90 shaft, and at 44" had to add 13 grams of weight to the head to get a D3-D4 swingweight. I accomplished this by inserting a 8 gram lead tip weight (designed for steel 0.370 shafts) into the bottom of the hosel, and a 5 gram graphite tip weight up the shaft. This left ~1.5" of tip insertion for the shaft. If I go with another graphite shaft in the 80 gram range, I may have to follow a similar procedure, which is why I was considering the Ti shafts (103 grams). With the 103 gram shaft, I will only need around 4 grams of added weight to get to D3-D4 swingweight at 44".
