Dave,
While the post originally came from Steve P. on ShopTalk, the current discussion is on SpineTalkers.  For those who are not members, here are the instructions:

You can make a clone of this http://www.tempomaster.com/

Material list-
11" of 1/2" dia.aluminum rod (USE 5/8" DOWEL INSTEAD)
1 old driver/iron head of choice
1 fiberglass driveway marker from Homedepot (1/4" dia.)
(has a red or blue reflected on top- about 48" long) $1.75
1 spring to use as shim- (USE SECTION OF GRAPHITE SHAFT INSTEAD)
1 grip-

I drilled a 1/4"+ dia hole in the end of the aluminum rod as deep as
the bit will go. The hole should be a straight as possible--- This
hole will accept the shaft (1/4" F.Glass rod) Cut F.Glass rod to
length required Use an appropriate sized spring stretched over the
head end of shaft to act as a shim between the two different size
diameters(OD of shaft &ID of head) Epoxy the beast together and thru a
grip on it. I think the flex of the shaft used is the key- and
the driveway marker is perfect ! If you notice on the T.M. site the
real McCoy will almost double back on itself. That's the flex you are
looking to achieve.

Don't like the hinged club either.  From what did you build
your 'very flexible shaft' club that you used.

It was the driveway marker post from Home Depot that is being discussed in ShopTalk now. I have already posted about the differences between mine and SteveP's original.

I'm having trouble
maintaining anything close to consistent tempo right now and am
looking for some training aid to help.

With a shaft THAT flexible, you WILL be practicing at a slow tempo. It demands one. It also demands that you swing with your body and not with your hands.

Good luck!
