More similarities than differences, I would think.

Even that distinction is too facile: one might argue that khadi, like
punk*, "is an attitude"; if the point is to direct one's activities in
anagoric as well as agoric directions, then the cloth itself, like the CD
of a distribution, is the accident, not the essence.

I agree.

* OK, if the political class in india (whether governmental or NG) tends
to be khadi clad, that pretty much speaks to a different demographic than
punk.

This is also a commentary on the long shadow of the freedom movement (and specifically, Mahatma Gandhi - possibly the most media-savvy politician India has produced, among various other things.)
