My wife, who is a travel agent, has a ready supply of online booking horror stories. Everything from broken websites that bill you but don't actually book a ticket, issued tickets that the airline doesn't know about and more. Nothing malicious, just a general air of total incompetence. She also says that they're based around the concept of making the customer do the travel agent's job -- with predictable results. Her advice: use online booking sites to help you negotiate with your travel agent, but don't actually book tickets through them. She's biased of course, and I suspect her advice only holds true for some of the higher end travel agencies that have higher service standards. -- b
