I have stayed at the Leela (now owned by Kempinski and closest to the airport)...many, many times. Its considered pricey by some Indians I know, but is comparable to US hotels in price and has excellent

Comparable? Any bombay hotel is a good $75..$100 costlier than comparable
hotels in San Francisco. Or hell, in Tokyo for that matter, at times.

And I've stayed at the Intercontinental Mark Hopkins at the top of Nob
Hill, ditto the Intercontinental at Bombay. While the bombay one is quite
nice there's a certain something about the Mark Hopkins (nothing much at
all going wrong) that attracts me to it .. especially as I get to stay
there at rather cheaper rates than usual ($199 rates negotiated by the
conference I usually go to is a steal)
