I used Yoga Nidra for many years and sometimes got into such a deep level of relaxation and meditative state that my children used to get scared when they saw my face.
The Bihar School of Yoga has these CDs for sale and they are start from Yoga NIdra INtemediate (about 20 minutes) to advanced (30 minutes). Yoga Nidra is just the first stage of meditation and I have not been able to cross this even 10 years after sporadic practice. The next 2 steps are Ajapa Japa and Antar Mouna which requires one to sit with spine straight for 1/2 hour - something that is the most stressful part of meditation. I would strongly recommend these CDs for starting.
