For muscle cramps of the type that are common with exercise, potassium
is usually lacking. That is why they made Gatorade in the first place,
to replace the electrolytes lost with exercise that cause muscle
cramps. It has potassium and sodium, etc. I agree with Kurt, the
unprocessed salt and a banana or other fruit high in potassium is a
great way to go. If that does not solve it, then moving to magnesium
and calcium is usually the next thing recommended. An imbalance of the
two can cause it, or an excess OR deficiency of either one can cause
muscle cramps, which further complicates the issue. Hopefully, some
experimentation can solve most of the problems. There is probably more
going on, but that is about all I know about it. --kathryn

Water is the only thing I have found so far to help with muscle

though I feel I should add that I have also increased my magnesium
intake to
about 900 mg and am taking extra manganese.
I have had moderate to severe osteoporosis of the hips and spine for
20 or
more years and in all that time have taken balanced calcium and
magnesium in
varying amounts. Currently I am taking 350 mg of calcium and and
900 mg
magnesium. I thought I could rely on the calcium, but it never made
any
difference with muscle cramps. Faith G.
