I have been using DMSO for many years on myself, friends and animals. The book says if you are allergic to sullphur, you may not be able to use it. Below the waist full strength is no problem for most people. Above the waist it must be diluted 50%. I never use the gel, it stays in one spot too long. As someone else suggested always try on a small spot first to see if any alergic reaction.. If I have a dog with a sprained foot or a friend with a sprained ankle, I apply it full strength. Again the liquid, not the gel. I have had dogs with severe hip dysplasia. Those guys I give a sub=Q injection according to the directions in the book....so much for each 25 lbs of dog..
