Hi Dee,
I have had experience with DMSO for almost 50 years. My father had a neck
injury and his doctor prescribed it for his inflamation. The Doctor was very
explicit in saying be very careful to apply on a clean area. My father had to
wash with soap and rinse very well to remove any soap residue. He was also told
not to cover it bandage or with clothes or pants or shirts because they would
have soap and other polution on them. My suggestion is to rinse the rash with
distilled or pure water. The time the DMSO is active always seems pretty
short. You might puncture a vitamin A capsule and place the oil on the rash
to calm it down. I have never known of any serious problems from DMSO. I have
been irritated and uncomfortable for a short period of time after using the
straight undiluted DMSO. I hope this helps. Marlene
PS I have heard if you use it regularly you should take Vitamin D, E, and A
orally..

I thought I had just better post a warning about the usage of DMSO. As
you know, I put the gel on husbands knee and it worked but produced this rash.
Well, two weeks later he still has the rash and I looked it up in Widepedia.
It seems that quite a lot of damage can be caused by solvents and it seems that
this has happened in this case. I realize that I shouldn't have used it neat,
but as there are no instructions on the container, this is understandable. It
actually says *not* to get it on the skin but because I knew that people did
use it I ignored this. I'm just posting this to say that if anyone is
recommending this product to anyone (including for use with animals) it has to
be very clear how to use it. I am desperately hoping that this will reverse in
time, but at the moment, he is in massive discomfort and the use of
anti-histamines does not seem to be having much effect. We are off to the
doctors again tomorrow to own up to what we used. No doubt I'll be getting a
well deserved lecture. Dee
