Hi, Dioralyte might well do the job, but check with your "chemist" for other options; I can't tell from this distance, but it seems short on the phosphate (and potassium?) end of things. OTOH, we're talking about getting something that will just Work, Now, in a hurry, and let's not be too picky.
I think the clue here is to find something like the standard balanced electrolyte solutions; Brooks Bradley recommends a lactated Ringer's solution which is a common product used whenever "re-hydration" is a recommended protocol or where a vehicle for I.V. feeding is employed. This is Not to imply that you have to use these I.V. for your dog. On the contrary, the benefit of these is just what is claimed for them; they have a balanced composition of the major electrolytes at appropriate concentrations; the result is that they are absorbed from the stomach OR the large intestine at a much faster rate than plain water is and tend to carry with them whatever else is in the solution such as CS. I wouldn't worry overmuch about the (within limits!) presence of sugar in whatever over-the-counter "sports drink" or such you can find with an otherwise acceptable balance of electrolytes, the trick here is to get the fluids (water!) and the CS into the animal quickly before it dies. BTW, in respect to your previous post wherein you mention God made it rain for forty days and forty nights and it was the best summer you ever had; I live on the rainy northwest coast of North America, and as the "old time" hardware stores have gradually been driven out of business it is difficult to find some of the "old time" products they used to carry. Can you still get fog knives in Scotland?
