In the U.S. Ringer's solution requires an MD or vet Rx to purchase. But most vets would probably sell you a bag or two to keep on hand. It does have an expiry date, but that can be extended by storing it in the refrigerator, particularly if the bag is still unused and sealed in its outer protective bag. Luckily or not I buy it by the case with a prescription as I have a pet who gets subQ fluids every other day.
