Hi Bruce, I'd be happy to. I've bought whole Turmeric spice by the lb from Mountain Rose Herbs(the absolutely most reasonable place I could find, though our4corners on eBay has better prices on some things), then I just use my capsule maker. I have the large 1 gram capsules. I've found the larger capsules end up being cheaper because I don't have to use as many. And I've bought the Curcumin Complex from Swanson, they're 900 mg capsules so a couple of those give me almost 2 grams of Turmeric(curcumin). If I'm using the whole spice I take anywhere from 3 - 6 grams, split up throughout the day. It works best for me every 12 hours or so. Depending on the symptoms. If I'm taking the Complex I use less, a couple of capsules twice a day. Everyone is different so you kind of have to pay attention to what your body is telling you and experiment until you find the right dose that works for you. And it can take a few days. Glucosamine took almost six weeks to work for me. And it can take a few days for Turmeric to work also. So you have to be patient. I'm not sure if there are any drug interactions:/. I don't take any prescription meds right now. I do my best to find safe alternatives. So if you're taking any prescription meds look around online to see. I also started taking a probiotic with enzymes and that may make a difference as well, seeing as there is a protease in there. I've cut my usual Turmeric dose to less than half since I started taking the probiotic. It took about a week of regular use.

Oh and I just recently started taking Lugol's too, a cautious dose of 10- 15 mg every other day or so(I eased back from taking it every day). And Vitamin D3. So your guess is as good as mine as to which combination is working so well. Although the Turmeric was working great all by itself BEFORE I started with the other stuff.

Hope that rambling explanation helps. I had to find an answer to chronic joint and muscle pain other than aspirin and Tylenol, because long term use of those can cause bigger problems. And I absolutely refused steroids and prescription pain meds.

Oh, and from what I understand some folks get a little queasy if they take Turmeric on an empty stomach. If you decide to use it, and that happens, take it with some food, it won't hurt anything.

You might want to check into a probiotic enzyme blend of some kind also. As we get older out gut flora changes(raises hand and waves wildly), and we can get an over abundance of yeast that causes havoc in the system (including joint and muscle pain). I'm tempted to say that I might have had a yeast problem that started clearing up after I started taking the probiotic/enzyme . *Shrug* Like I said, your guess is as good as mine. But it's working so I'm not tampering with it, LOL. I haven't taken any aspirin or Tylenol in over six months, and I'm not in any pain. Yippee!

There are also other things I've done, with what I eat.

But Turmeric works, and it is effective all by itself, for me anyway. Your mileage may vary. I haven't read about any toxicity problems. If anyone else has, I'm sure they'll share. I'd like to know too.

Would you mind sharing the "how, how much, how often" and the kind of tumeric you use for joint pain?
I could use the help. At 72 everything hurts.

Thanks:

My Doc gave me a funny look yesterday, his jaw kinda dropped and his eyes bugged a little, when I told him I I use Turmeric for joint pain and inflammation, LOL. It was all I could do not to laugh at him. He's my "new" Doc. I guess I'll have to get him trained right ;> . They don't act high and mighty with me more than once. LMAO, I print out every scientific study I can find, done by reputable sources, and deluge them with "proof", and tell 'em to refute the evidence if they can. Doctors learn real fast that I don't do "snake oil" and I don't appreciate them talking down to me. Everything I use has at least one or two studies done. I prefer more than that really, and to know how the studies were run. There are studies and then there are good studies. And If it works, it works.

Heh... yeah, doctors are funny. You mention CS and they look at you like you have two heads. One did that, then a light went off and he said, "Oh yeah, a dietary supplement...". Mostly I don't even mention it. Let 'em guess why I never get sick.
