Thanks Dave,
I could do with a dramatic increase in vitality. :-)

Will take the VitC and iodine separately.Though I knew that iodine is
very 'volatile' ; I assumed that what was needed would be grabbed by the
body as it went by.

Hmm , something not right. The Vermont recipe was some Maple syrup [i
used honey] and some vinegar [ i sometimes used fresh lemonjuice ] ( i
used equal proportions ; a teaspoon of each ) and a few drops of lugols
mixed in and then glug. So why would ascorbic acid be so different to
vinegar as to cause one a mischief? In my simple mind the sugar is a
tissue penetrant and the weak acid acts to release iodine from the Lugols
which is fairly stable. ?

The site has changed since but there is some fascinating reading. ref:

The recipe for adults:

• two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar
• two teaspoons of honey

#10: Vitamin C Helps Improve Defective Iodine Retention
[Drs. Guy Abraham and David Brownstein] In an article
titled, Evidence That the Administration of Vitamin C
Improves a Defective Cellular Transport Mechanism for
Iodine: A Case Report, Drs. Abraham and Brownstein
describe a case of woman with cellular iodide transport
damage who responded to three months of Vitamin C
therapy (3 grams per day) that was alternated with iodine
supplementation every other day (Note: The box titled,
Vitamin C Powder Makes Iodine Stains Disappear explains
why Vitamin C and iodine should not be taken together).

Vitamin C Powder Makes Iodine Stains Disappear
Dr. Hulda Clark has been recommending Lugol’s iodine
solution for many years. In her book, The Cure for All
Diseases, she recommends using Vitamin C crystals to
remove an iodine stain if you spill a few drops.
The dark iodine stain will instantly disappear due to
an oxidation-reduction reaction. Reactions that involve
a transfer of electrons from one atom to another
are called oxidation-reduction reactions or redox for
short. Vitamin C is considered a univeral donor and
reduces iodine while iodine oxidizes Vitamin C. This
oxidation-reduction reaction is the reason that iodine
and Vitamin C should not be taken together.
