That indicates that Africa should be a high rate country and it is. Benzene devastates the immune system, and that indicates that gay males which prefer a benzene containing lubricant should be at risk, and they are. All things that destroy the immune system cannot be lumped into to one chemical - benzene, and it just isn't so. There are many things that can destroy the immune system, it just happens that HIV doesn't appear to be one of them. For Africa it is parasites, for gay men and the Hatian immigrants it was Benzene, and for those who happen to get a positive test for HIV it is AZT. There are lots of other things as well. To cure AIDS requires one to eliminate what is destroying the immune system, be it chemical toxins or parasites. That said it is possible that HIV could ring the death toll. As an opportunistic pathogen, it is no different than lots of other opportunistic pathogens that normally do not cause disease, but if your immune system is crippled, can kill you.
