In a conversation in a parking lot several years ago, a man told me that he had been part of the "secret" government, barely escaped with his life, and that AIDS was caused by a custom enzyme which could be designed to take out an entire metropolitan area or affect only one family in the city, but kill every member of that family.
He said a lot of other stuff too, and I wanted to know more. We talked for about an hour, me standing outside his vehicle, as he paused backing out. He then told me it would be dangerous to contact him. He sounded real enough to me that I did not ever attempt to contact him, although his name and business was in the phone book at the time. Some of what he said is not well known, but I happened to know about it from other sources. He did not sound like a kook. Another thing he told me: As a child he lived on a far east Pacific island. The Japanese bombed the island. A bomb fell near his home; near enough to singe his lungs. Afterward, he found the timing ring from the bomb. It is a brass ring near the nose of the bomb that the armament crew sets the millisecond delay between the time the bomb strikes an object and the time it detonates---to control the penetration depth of the explosion. He said that the ring had cast into it, "Springfield Armory". We sold them the bombs.
