The basic concept for making alchohol from dead bio materials [yard waste
etc] is to seal the materials in an airtight steel container and heat till
all volitiles are gassified, condense the gasses into liquid.
One byproduct is charcoal which can be further used to supply heat. A
solar oven arrangement might suppply additional heat.
I'm not sure of the exact specs on the process but that's the basics.
The result is "wood alchohol" aka methonal.
A more effecient method for production for automobiles may be to install a
wood gas generator as was available on Mercedes cars during ww2 and is in
common use in the Philippines today on taxis and motor boats. [not very
convenient, but it works]
Mother earth news built and ran a Chevey LUV on wood gas. [got about 1
mile per pound of wood if I recall]

Some auto makers are offering "multifuel" engines that will burn whatever
you put into them if it's at least in the same class of fuel [can't run
peanut oil in a gasoline engine but can in a diesel...can run alchohol or
alchohol/gasoline mix in a gas engine regardless of ratios]
