Usually the problem with "too much HCl" isn't too much acid in the stomach. Just the reverse. There's not enough stomach acid to properly digest your food (and you may be using antacids to counteract the acid-stomach symptom -- so your stomach produces more acid, which you counteract, etc.) Did your MD suggest trying Betaine HCl? That stops most "acid stomach" for most people (and might just help with Barrets esophagus syndrome).
