I am popping in here unbidden and unasked.  Why are you taking HCL in a 
solution?  I can easily see (even with my uneducated eyes) that 'drinking' HCL 
could make an esophageal ulcer worse.  I am sure the original poster was 
suggesting the tablets. These would be rapidly washed down your throat,  past 
the ulcer and into the stomach where it belongs.
