To combat a cold you need to contact the virus with the CS. Gargling, spraying in the eyes, ears and especially up the nose, and if it descends to the bronchia's breathing the spray or nebulising is the best course.
Neither the Beck method nor the Dr John method are optimal, in my opinion...better to ditch the air bubbling and up the voltage to 12V (or higher if using current limiting), mechanical stirring if required. No point in getting upset if it doesn't work for you, despite all the hype that can be found, CS is just an aid, not a replacement for a healthy immune system.
