Diatomaceous earth should not be breathed into the lungs and if it is eaten to destroy parasites, it MUST be taken in capsule form. Here's why: the fossilized diatoms, or microscopic creatures, have very sharp silica spikes that are highly irritating -- that's why they destroy bugs; they pierce the shells of the insects. Even food grade diatomaceous earth can irritate. Some people absolutely cannot be near it when it is dusted on carpets indoors or even spread outside. I personally would not use it due to its highly irritating quality to the lungs. I would take it in capsule form ONLY for parasites. Try breaking open a capsule of D.E. and eating it. You will feel the minute sharp shards in your throat -- not a pleasant feeling. Each person is individual. Some don't mind it, some do.
