I don't know if there is a typo or what.  My schematic that I pulled out of my 
file shows the 22.1K resistor going from pin 6 to 7 and a 1K resistor going 
from pin 7 to VCC (pin 8).  I don't have any info handy on the 555 timer to 
determine whether the other way is correct or just a typo...

That LMC555 timer circuit is rather strange. Uusually the timing circuit is
a resistor series between pin 8 - 7- 6 and the Cap from pin 6 to ground.

I got knee relief running 10 Hz rather 30 kHz, and that is safe for the
eyes.

The approved medical TENS unit runs at 10 Hz.
