Oxides are pretty much inert, so the effect is merely cosmetic.
If left undisturbed for several days, small black spheroids of oxides
should form on the bottom of the container which should stabilize and
isolate these oxides from the rest of the water and TE should become
uniformly fine grained.
I'm watching to confirm this.
What I've noticed is that my Mason jar has taken on a dark coating. I'm
assuming this is silver oxide.
Since that happened my CS has consistently [so far] been clear instead of
yellow.
But then, I'm also using starter from my clear batches.
Hummmm. How to tell.
