But why wipe?  Perhaps it serves a function. Since acquiring the
film I've noticed clearer CS, i.e. it doesn't seem to go yellow as
much.

What I've noticed is that my Mason jar has taken on a dark coating. I'm
assuming this is silver oxide.

Since that happened my CS has consistently [so far] been clear instead of
yellow.

But then, I'm also using starter from my clear batches.

Hummmm. How to tell.
