I just scoop up the msm crystals in a spoon, put them in my mouth and take a big swallow of the emergen-C drink. I have been using the Opti-MSM crystals from www.msm-msm.com. They cost a bit more but don't dissolve quite so fast when they hit a damp tongue, so I never taste it at all. I was up to about 4 teaspoons (heaped) a day, but backed off, as I thought it was causing some insomnia, which apparently high doses of msm can do. I was not taking the recommended companion dose of vit C with it though, which I am doing now. Consider adding a couple of capsules of Yucca Schidigera daily too. I find it has great anti-inflammation effects of its own, and also pain relief effects. If I have pain starting in knees or back sometimes the Yucca alone stops it. Usually now when the pain and stiffness are flaring up, it is because of missing several days or a week of taking the msm, vit C, and yucca. FWIW, I am in the midst of a fit of heavy cleaning and furniture moving, and still doing fine. Early in the summer, my knees were flared up so badly, I had to use frist one, then two canes to get around at all, had the pain lasted much longer, probably was looking at getting a walker as being more practical than two canes. Flares are awful physically, and then there are mental and emotional things happening as it is so depressing. Of course, I used a lot of DMSO/EIS on my knees too. And upped my protein intake and cut back carbs. While I know mostly, what needs to happen for me not to have these incidents, it gets darn hard to even remember it all, let alone make sure I do and take all the stuff and eat right every day, and after a few months of doing well, it is easy to start to let it all slide, in the hope that a miracle has happened and one has become "normal".

Hi Sol,

Thanks for your prompt reply. A dear Doctor friend recommended to my wife
for relief for her sciatica pains--1 doz. 1,000mg tablets MSM = 12,000 mg
daily with 6 Vit w/rose hips 1,000 mg Tablets = 6,000 mg daily. We're just
stepping up our insufficient dose and hope to have complete pain relief
within a week (after a 6 months very painful siege).

According to the doctor's recommendation, you, also, are underdosing. Our
MSM powder contains 3,000mg/1/2 teaspoonful (Gm). Please, what do you mix
your MSM in? How's the taste?

Let's share improvement info within a couple weeks.
Sincerely,

I currently take at least a heaping tsp of msm daily, have forgotten
and can't find my info exactly what that is in mg. I take my C at the
same time, as recommended on the container of msm. I use the EmergenC
product.
