All the information I've run across concerning damage to nerve ganglia is
related to very large doses of silver compounds and found within those
extreme studies that try to kill..not cure.. things with silver, is even
rarer than argyria and accumulation may well be [as in, most likely to be*]
the 'result' of nerve damage rather than the cause.
*Google "silver and brain" as a string and you'll find pages and pages
having to do with using silver and copper to stain and 'point out' nerve
damage, as a diagnostic tool.
I find no indication whether or not stained/damaged ganglia are prone to
recover.
