Commercially sold Kefir does not contain all the ingredients of natural
Kefir. I believe it is the yeasts which are not present. Kefir grains
are colonies of bacteria and yeasts. Even the commercially sold Kefir
making starters do not contain the complete range of organisms and will
not propagate Kefir grains apparently. You can learn about Kefir here:
