Wow, don't you paint them?  Painting allows them to keep cooler in the summer,
and warmer in the winter, prevents decay, and helps ward off carpender bees.

Are they facing to the left or right? It appears they are facing right
(especially since they are tilted that way), directly into the woods, instead of
left into the field. Is that so the entrance will be facing south, since
normally you want the hive facing into an open area so the bees can take off and
land with a straight shot?
