Some months ago I recommended a Yahoo group regarding Essential
Microorganisms, run by a fellow named Vinny Pinto. I am retracting
that recommendation.
I have just unsubscribed from the EM list after confirming that it is
not an open forum, and that the "moderator" routinely excludes
legitimate messages that he -- for whatever reason -- does not care
for. Further, I have repeatedly seen posters subjected to abuse
and humiliation in that forum. Several of my own replies,
criticizing that abusive practice, were blocked.
Our own Jason Eaton, whose postings here I have long respected,
posted information on the EM list, which the moderator forcefully
criticized as being dangerous. If Jason posted an informed rebuttal --
I was expecting one -- it never made its way onto the list.
If in fact a rebuttal was blocked, the moderator's concern clearly
could not have been the health of list members. I recall that my own
messages regarding HIV E -- a danger to those who eat raw meat -- were
blocked from the EM list, despite explicit user interest in raw foods.
The information I posted was concise and factual. EM LIst members
were thus deprived of useful information at the whim of the "moderator."
That, to my mind, is not moderation; it's petty censorship and
self-aggrandizement. I have seen that sort of behavior repeatedly
on that list, and it caused me to lose respect and lose interest. The
end result has been that a growing number of messages that make it past
the "moderator" exhibit an obsequious and servile tone that is frankly
nauseating.
If I find a better way of keeping abreast of the latest information
about Dr. Terao Higa's fascinating discoveries, I will post it here.
The EM Yahoo list, in my experience, is not worth the brain damage.
I would still recommend the information available on V. Pinto's web
pages, much of which is not readily available elsewhere. He's also
published a book available from an EM vendor; it may be worth reading.
