Thanks for the suggestion. This would work as a last resort.
Note, however, that one can selectively for quit individual classic
apps when using Cmd-Opt-Esc. So there might be also a system level
function one could call... Even if I have to write it in C or RB
instead of AppleScript. I just have to figure out which system call
does this.

BTW, I found that the Apple Support and Knowledge Base articles
practically know NOTHING about AppleScript - the main KB page does
not list AppleScript as a topic, nor would searching for "applescript
quit" reveal anything related to AppleScript. Crap!
