If memory serves, SquirrelMail accesses mail using IMAP. SIMS only does
POP3 so, no, SquirrelMail would not work with SIMS.

A while (as in a few years) back someone on this list developed a web mail
solution that worked with SIMS, although the name of it escapes me at the
moment. You might check the list archives. Also, I don't know about its
current incarnation but past versions of 4D Webmail have worked with SIMS.
