I would change the name of your SIMS server to mail.subassoc.com as
hosts that want to do a rDNS will work better with a host name (any MTA
that rejects mail based only on rDNS is broken or badly configured).
It doesn't look like that will matter. I just telnetted into the server and attempted a manual send so I could see exactly what it was doing. I specified in my EHLO the exact RDNS string of my firewall (where the server would think I was connecting from when going via telnet), and it still rejected the connection.
Its looking like this may have nothing to do with a PTR record, or even
RDNS, and rather something else is wrong (possibly blacklisted from their
server?) <sigh> that means I'm probably going to have to fight my way
into contacting their mail admin to get a better answer.
Why are you using sims V.1.8b8?
Um... because I downloaded d14 a while back, but its not overly easy to
get to my mail server to do the upgrade, and I just kind of forgot about
doing it. I think I shall make that my afternoon project.
