This is a query regarding the Enabling Instant Messaging for the
User(Counterpath user).
Configure a user. Associate counterpath phone with it.(leave the IM
option for user alone.Do not enable)
1) Enable the XMPP option available with the SMC 3456 client *(*found
under Device>>Phones>>Nortel 3456>>select the added line(say user
200)>>XMPP>>XMPP Account Enabled*)* and save the settings.
2) After this check Users>>User 200>>Instant Messaging tab.
The Instant messaging check box would disabled by default.
Now, after step 1) /should the/ IM option under "Users>>User
200>>Instant Messaging" get enabled /*automatically*?/
As mentioned above, the IM option for user does not get enabled
automatically upon enabling XMPP option(current behavior).
In my opinion,
For a user to have an access to IM, the Instant messaging check-box
should be enabled on the configUI from user's page.
hence the current behavior is correct.Else the openfire config will not
be created and the XMPP account will also be not created successfully.
Please confirm.
