"It depends." :) It sounds like you have it set up correctly for your
environment, but without full details on your environment it's hard to
say for certain.

In the example config I posted, we're using split DNS with a single
SIP domain (internal and external) so there is no OB proxy required.
The APKT sbc's are just passthroughs for registration; once an
endpoint is registered, the sbc obviously handles session signaling,
NAT, and anchors media.

In this scheme - and note there is no ITSP config in the sbc - there
is no config magic in sipX. Remote endpoint sends REGISTER to sbc
outside realm / external IP; sbc sends REGISTER to sipX via inside
realm / internal IP; sipX replies to sbc internal IP.
