As I said, the system nowadays keeps the information about all preferences in some global database. It sometimes synchronizes that information with files in Library/Preferences, where they used to be in the old days. It does that for persistency and backup. And if you use the “defaults” command line tool, that forces the system to synchronize the information for a domain in that global database with the corresponding file in Library/Preferences. So for the Skim bookmarks, you can enter the following in Terminal: defaults read net.sourceforge.skim-app.skim.bookmarks > I just would like to know where I can find the file with bookmarks.
