Not all star catalogs are under preferences>catalog and object
parameters>stars1 or stars 2. In this window, click the "catalogs" tab to find
the hip catalog and turn it off.
Other catalogs are under the "size", "magnitude", or "nebulae" tabs.

I think I see it. I just downloaded your new picture and added a yellow
outline of what I think is the cross. See the new image in the folder. I also
noticed something that looks like a sharp edge to the star density, within the
horizontal part of the cross, and outlined it again in yellow.
The cross itself could be just normal variation in star density, but the "edge"
is probably a glitch in the original catalogs. The autoscan techniques have
problems with scratches in the plates, diffraction spikes from the original
scope, satellite/airplane trails, all of which are straight lines. The
autoscan detects the extra light, but it's designed to indicate stars, so it
thinks this light is a straight string of stars. The autoscan computer was not
smart enough to recognize artifacts. There are many of these problems in the
deep catalogs.
