Guys,

We have lift off after a few config changes (see below) and recrimping the
cable to make a crossover my friend was able to get it going. Works a treat!

I visited the Celestron website and found the comms protocol at:
http://www.celestron.com/c3/images/files/downloads/1154108406_nexstarcommprot.pdf

The handpad is expecting 9600 baud, 1 stop bit and no parity.

Com 5 has to be set up. (The Keyspan selected com5 as the available port).
First, plug in the Keyspan to a USB port. You don't have to plug in your scope
to the Keyspan. Then go to start/control panel/performance and
maintenance/system/hardware/device manager/ports (com and LPT)/keyspan USB
serial port (com5)/port settings (You need to RM click to get this screen).

With the new small Nexstars, you must put the scope in "RS-232 Mode" before it
will accept commands from the PC. Use the "Utilities" menu in the Hand
Controller to set this. While in RS-232 mode, the PC has full control over the
scope's GOTO functions.

A little bit trickier than expected!
