Yes, you should be aligned before connecting CdC to the scope.

If you get errors such as "There is no Celestron Scope connected" then 
check the cable and the COM port. If this seems OK then download and 
install HelperNET. This is in the files area of the ASCOM-Talk group.

Similarly if you get registry errors then install HelperNET.
