Hello,
there must be a bug in Skype 4.2 in Windows 7, which causes it not to go to
the system tray. These are the possible solutions to my knowledge:
1. check if there's a checkbox to go to the system tray when exiting (not
sure if it's in the general or advanced settings);
2. search for the main executable file skype.exe, usually in C:\Program
data\Skype\Phone, then press alt+enter for the properties, and ctrl+tab till
you find the compatibility tab, where you'll activate the compatibility mode
for vista or even Xp SP3.
If none of this methods works or you'll have difficulties, downgrade to 4.1.
