Yes, you're right. It can save you a lot of problems. When things are poorly
documented, you might arguably be justified in skipping that step, but when
things like the scripts and Skype talking are well documented and that
documentation is made available in a handy way, there is little excuse not
to pay attention to it.

Yes, with the scripts running there's another way to quit Skype, which
consists in pressing alt+shift+f4 twice quickly while in Skype main window.
With SkypeTalking, press ctrl+alt+shift+q to quit ST; by default,
SkypeTalking will ask you for a confirmation, and when you say Yes it will
also quit Skype for you. These settings can be changed in SkypeTalking
options (ctrl+alt+shift+p).
