be somewhat curtailed, and I would start answering Skype tech
questions with a Twitter address..
Why do I digress and say all this now? Mostly to point out by example
that people are different in how they Skype, just as they are in how
they do almost everything else. I don't fit the mold sometimes I'm
sure, what with my funny status usage and self-restriction on number
of chat protocols to keep up with. Again, there is no
one-size-fits-all rule for these things. I suspect I'll be considered
rude by some if I go into Twitter but follow no one, but I'll have to
accept that; it's my way of managing time, to limit the number of
things I have to keep up with all the time.
So Chris is ok telling us his preference, but we can't expect to agree
on one way to use Skype. Or Twitter, more's the pity. :-)

calls. If you don't want calls at a given time then it is up to you to set
your status to indicate this. this is the function of the do not
disturbed status indication of skype. It also prevents your skype from
ringing or playing other distracting sounds. When I call someone on the
phone I don't ask if it is ok first. I call them up if they are not home or
don't want to talk to me then they don't answer and I leave a voice mail.
Why would skype be any different?
